Upcoming event: Omega Annual Autism Conference: August 15 - 17; Rhinebeck, NY
(From website) The number of children diagnosed with autism every year is increasing at an alarming rate—this troubling disorder now affects 1 in every 150 children—and only now are medical professionals beginning to figure out why and what to do about it.
Last year, Omega Institute presented a rare gathering with some of the nation’s most innovative voices in the autism community to explore the latest approaches to treating and living with autism spectrum disorders (ASDs). This year, Omega is hosting this extraordinary program again to offer updates on the latest research and developments in the field.
The program features two tracks that give illuminating, forward-thinking perspectives on how we perceive autism in our culture and how we face important questions and decisions in supporting individuals with autism. Please choose one when you register.

Top of page Four out of five sunscreens don't work. Does yours?
Four out of 5 sunscreens don't give the protection you need, blocking too little of the sun's harmful UV radiation, or containing ingredients with significant safety concerns.
How does your sunscreen rank? Find out in the Environmental Working Group's newly updated database of nearly 1,000 sunscreens. If yours doesn't make the cut, find one that does on the Recommended Sunscreens list.
You should always use sunscreen when spending time outside, but Americans don't have a good way to choose sunscreens that are safe and effective.
The SPF rating is only part of what you need to know, since it only tells you about UVB (sunburn) protection. That's why the Environmental Working Group's rating system includes critical information on UVA protection, how stable the product is in the sun, and potential health hazards of ingredients.
Last summer, EWG's first sunscreen investigation prompted thousands of you to send comments to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). They'd been promising safety standards since 1978, and thanks to you they finally drafted them.
But the process stalled, and we're still waiting. FDA needs to hear from you.
Send an email to Dr. Jeff Shuren, who heads up the sunscreen standard process at FDA, and tell him you want safe sunscreen.
